Opening salvo
It's late Saturday night and I'm feeling really tired and tipsy. Not because I've been drinking, but because I was on a boat all day. My husband and four of our friends decided to hold a surprise (and very early) birthday party for me by taking me on a motorboat. We cruised along the river Ouse all day, just stopping at a nice pub for lunch. We saw loads of swans, ducks, herons, and Canadian geese (we demanded to see their travel documents but they just ignored us) on our journey. It had been a really lovely day, and we were looking forward to capping it with a nice Indian dinner. But the men got too drunk on the boat and the day ended with us women--and Lucas, of course--walking off in a huff, leaving the men in the middle of the town. Bad idea, really, because they then decided to get even more drunk and are right now touring all the pubs in town. We members of the harassed and offended sisterhood just opted to bond over fish and chips while Lucas amused us with his attempts to keep himself awake.
So now I'm home and comfy at last. And I've finally managed to sit down and write this introductory post to our blog. So, welcome all to our very own blog.
I've been trying to resist the temptation to talk about high school life, but recently I realised how much I really enjoyed it. You see, I went through a phase where I really disliked the person I was in high school. That person simply made me cringe with embarrassment. What a clumsy, silly, awkward girl I had been! But now that I'm a lot older, I'm a lot kinder to myself and my past. And now that I can think about high school without feeling embarrassed, I can see how much fun I had all those four years, and what good friends I had made over that period of time.
This really is just my blundering way of saying I really miss you guys, and that I'm really glad to have found you again (or more appropriately, to have been found by you).
Enough of this soppiness. Before I stop making any sense altogether, please let me remind you guys to feel free to post to this blog anytime about anything you like. You might want to rant about the current state of Philippine politics, or rave about a beautiful place you've just visited, or reminisce about high school days (gosh, the hairstyles we wore, the crushes we had!), or just talk about how your day has been. Anything. We might, once in a while, come up with a subject that we all can write about. But you can always choose to write about something other than that. After all, this is our blog and will serve as the repository of our thoughts, be they mundane or profound.
So that's it from me. For now, anyway. You guys take care. Happy blogging!
